External Staircases Regulations
As always happens with staircases we suggest to contact your local building inspector to check what are the Staircases Building Rules to be applied in your area, as you may have some restrictions in terms of staircases measures and style.
Our suggestions for a safe and comfortable external staircase are the following:
*have railings and balustrades at a minimum height of 1100 mm
*have non-slip steps surface. This can be achieved using suitable materials and engineering when manufacturing the staircase or by gluing non-slip strips just after staircase installation.
*have closed risers. If you want to keep an open and airy design we suggest to use glass closed risers. They will allow to see through the steps and have a light and bright design.
